Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most well-known and widely practiced type of therapeutic massage. This type of massage focuses on muscle relaxation, targeting superficial muscles (rather than the connective tissues targeted in deep-tissue massage) and increasing blood circulation. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury. Doctors highly recommend this massage to women during their pregnancy.

Benefits of Swedish Massage:

  • Relaxation
  • Pain management
  • Reduces Stress
  • Increase Flexibility and Range of Motion
  • Improve Posture
  • Improve Blood Circulation
  • Endorphin Release to Improve Mood
  • Flush out Metabolic Byproducts
  • Support Healthy Immunity
  • Increase Nutrient Supply to Muscles
  • Increases Energy
  • Improve Sleep

The significant benefits of Swedish Massage make it clear that a regular massage regimen is more than a luxury, but indeed an important ingredient in the cultivation of physical and emotional well-being. In your relaxation, you are also taking care of both your body and mind in fundamental yet important ways.

Deep Tissue Massage

The focus of a deep tissue massage is realigning the deeper layers of muscle connective tissue. It is especially helpful for acute and chronically pain.

Deep tissue massage is therapeutic as well as corrective. Working deeply does not equate with working harder or with more effort, but is the result of specific deep tissue massage techniques combined with knowledge of the different layers of the body’s soft tissues.

The targeted layers have moderate to intense pressure applied to them. The true intention is to work on all the layers of the body’s soft tissues and particularly the fascia. Injury, illness or prolonged immobility can cause fascia to become stiff, hardened or stuck to adjacent structures. This in turn causes pain, reduced mobility and impaired function.

Portions of a treatment may have the possibility of “good pain”, however, our massage therapist will always work with you to find a level of pressure that is comfortable for you.

Deep tissue massage is beneficial for the following conditions:

  • Chronic pain
  • Limited mobility
  • Sports injury
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Sciatica
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscle tension or spasm
  • After a workout or bodybuilding

Chair massage

These massages are usually 10–30 minutes

A chair massage is best for people who want a quick massage that focuses on your neck, shoulders, and back. A chair massage can also be a way to introduce you to massage if you’ve never had one before. Chair massage also helps to relieve stress and promote relaxation. This type of massage uses light to medium pressure.

During the massage, you’ll remain fully clothed and sit in a specially designed chair. You’ll straddle the chair so that your chest pushes into the back of the chair, allowing the massage therapist to have access to your back.

Reflexology

Reflexology is best for people who are looking to relax or restore their natural energy levels. It’s also a good option if you aren’t comfortable being touched on your entire body. Reflexology uses gentle to firm pressure on different pressure points of the feet, hands, scalp and ears. You can wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to your legs.
